Everything you need to know about working with Lesley and Azora Ops Consultating

About Operations

What even is "operations"?

Great question — and you're not alone in asking it.

Operations is the core day-to-day stuff that keeps your business running. It's essentially everything that isn't directly client or people-facing — think invoicing, reporting, process management, onboarding, systems, workflows, and the infrastructure working behind the scenes to hold everything together.

When operations are running well you barely notice them. When they're broken, you feel it everywhere.

About Working With a Fractional COO

Why work with a Fractional COO instead of hiring someone full time?

A full-time COO typically costs over $200,000 a year in salary alone -  before benefits, equity, or onboarding time. Most growth-stage businesses aren't ready for that investment, but they absolutely need that level of operational leadership.

A Fractional COO gives you the strategic thinking, hands-on execution, and leadership presence of an experienced COO at a fraction of the cost. You get the expertise without the overhead and you only pay for what you actually need.

What's the difference between a Fractional COO and a consultant?

A consultant advises. A Fractional COO does.

I don't hand you a report and disappear. I embed in your leadership team, stay close to the work, and make sure things actually get done. Think of me as a partner, not a vendor.

What kind of businesses do you work with?

I work primarily with first-gen and immigrant founders running growth-stage businesses — typically 50 to 100 employees — who are past the startup phase and feeling the operational strain of scaling.

My deepest expertise is in Professional and Financial Services, but if you're a first-gen founder building something real, I'd love to learn about your business.

How much time do you spend with each client?

Typically 2–3 days a week, depending on what your business needs. We'll figure out the right level of engagement together before you commit to anything.

How long do engagements usually last?

Most clients work with me on an ongoing monthly retainer with a 3 month minimum commitment. That's not arbitrary — it's because real operational change takes time to diagnose, build, and start seeing real results. Quick fixes rarely stick, and I'm not interested in doing work that doesn't last.

After the initial 3 months most clients choose to continue because by then the business runs differently and they're not ready to give that up.

Absolutely. Absolutely. I work with platforms like ClickUp, Notion, Google Workspace, HoneyBook, Dubsado, and more. We won't reinvent the wheel unless it makes sense to. I'll optimize what you already have and only recommend new tools if they'll genuinely fit your workflow.

Can you work with my existing tools?

Complete my contact form. I review each one and will reach out to get started on streamlining your business.

How do I get started?

 About the Business
Check-Up

It's a focused 90-minute working session where I get eyes on your operations and give you an honest picture of what's working, what isn't, and what I'd focus on first.

You'll walk away with a written summary of recommendations you can act on immediately, plus a follow-up email with clear next steps whether or not we continue working together.

Think of it as clarity without commitment.

What is a Business Check-Up?

It's for founders who know something isn't working but aren't sure exactly what or who want to experience how I think and work before committing to an ongoing engagement. It's also a great starting point if you're not sure whether you need a Fractional COO or something else entirely. I'll tell you honestly what I think you need — even if it's not me.

Who is it for?

No. This is a real working session. You'll get genuine insights, honest recommendations, and practical next steps regardless of what you decide afterward. I'm not here to pitch, I'm here to help.

Is this really a sales call?

How do I book one?

About the Podcast

What does Unapologetically First Gen have to do with Azora Ops?

More than you might think.

UFG is the podcast I co-host with my sister Stacy. It started as the conversations we were already having between us — about growing up bicultural, navigating two worlds, and figuring out who we are in the middle of all of it. We just decided to hit record.

The podcast and the business come from the same place: a deep belief that first-gen and immigrant stories deserve to be heard — and that first-gen and immigrant founders deserve a partner who truly gets their whole picture.

If you found Azora Ops through the podcast — welcome. You're in the right place.

Not sure where to start?

Most people begin with either a Business Check-Up or a Discovery Call. The Check-Up gives you immediate clarity and a custom roadmap. The Discovery Call is a chance to explore whether ongoing Fractional COO support is the right fit.

Either way — let's talk.
